Over the last several years , Tile Liquidators has recognized the demand for high-caliber craftsmanship and tailored stonework in North Alabama. But we didn’t just see a growing demand for countertops – we saw an opportunity to do it better. Natural stone and countertops have always been a part of our offerings, and we decided to invest in our own fabrication operation so we could have more control over quality, scheduling, craftsmanship and the overall customer experience.
Instead of just selling countertops and relying on outside fabrication, we wanted to be able to manage the process ourselves and provide the level of quality and service we wanted our customers to have. And so, our mission to deliver the highest quality product for the most affordable prices led to the creation of the newest member of the Tile Liquidators family: Sand Mountain Surface!
Located in Guntersville, Alabama, Sand Mountain Surface is a premier custom countertop fabricator and natural stone supplier. It was established as a dedicated pillar of our business to serve as a complete solution for both residential remodels and new commercial construction. The facility is a marvel of modern machinery – It boasts a large selection of full slabs on hand, housed entirely indoors and protected from the elements. Customers can walk through the facility and pick the exact material they’d like to use for their countertops, see the full color, movement and veining, as opposed to choosing from a small sample. Whether upgrading a single vanity or outfitting a full custom build, Sand Mountain Surface provides the raw materials, technical precision, and installation mastery required to execute projects flawlessly.

Rather than sourcing flooring from one vendor, backsplash tile from another, and countertop slabs from a third, clients benefit from a seamless, one-stop shop experience. While Tile Liquidators offers an extensive range of wall tiles, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), hardwood, and porcelain, Sand Mountain Surface completes the interior package with custom stone fabrication. A Full Service Company
Sand Mountain Surface controls the entire process internally – From selecting the slabs, to digitally templating the job, to CAD layout, to fabrication and installation, it’s completely handled by their team. SMS works with homeowners, builders, remodelers, contractors, and other commercial businesses on projects throughout North Alabama.
And just like Tile Liquidators, Sand Mountain Surface handles every step of the process in-house to guarantee quality and precision:
- Digital Templating & Design Consultation: Using precise laser measurement technology to ensure exact fits around cabinetry, sinks, and structural features. After a customer picks out their material, SMS digitally templates the project, and their CAD designers overlay the template onto digital images of the customer’s slabs. This allows the SMS team to work through the flow and direction of the material, vein matching and seam placement before any piece is cut. They send the layouts to the customer for review and approval before it goes into fabrication.
- In-House Custom Fabrication: Slabs are cut, detailed, and edged using state-of-the-art machinery combined with skilled artisan hand-finishing. Sand Mountain Surface proudly boasts CNC fabrication, waterjet cutting, and precision equipment. The experienced SMS team also does a round of hand finishing and detail work, which machines can’t replace. The combination of the professional team and unparalleled technology is a large distinguishing factor.
- Professional On-Site Installation: Experienced installation teams handle delivery, placement, seaming, and sealing to deliver a flawless final result.
